When I found out I was expecting my first child, my world shifted. The newlywed bliss was quickly replaced by the exciting journey of parenthood. Amidst the whirlwind of preparations, we made a pact to always carve out time for just the two of us.

That’s when I first heard the term “babymoon”.  A babymoon is a pre-baby getaway designed for expectant parents to relax, reconnect, and savor their final moments as a couple. It’s a chance to unwind, create lasting memories, and prepare for the exciting chapter ahead.

Being young and budget-conscious, we decided to explore the hidden gems in our own backyard: Cedar Rapids and Iowa City., for our last hurrah as a duo before becoming parents.

• Go to a drive-in movie: Spend an evening under the stars at a drive-in theatre. There are two drive-in theaters near Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. Voy61 is a 53 minute drive and just over an hour is Blue Grass Drive-In.
• One last photoshoot: Celebrate your pregnancy with a luxurious photoshoot. Relax, reconnect, and create timeless keepsakes.
• Pottery: Channel your Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore pottery vibes at the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio. Located by Newbo, The Ceramics Center offers several workshops for you both to create a keepsake.
